Mahogany Wood
Color and appearance:
Mahogany is an ambiguous vernacular name for a group of trees tropical plants of the Meliaceae family, whose main characteristic is to have a pale pink to red colored wood, fragrant, durable and easy to work. Mahogany fruits are capsules containing samaras (winged achenes).
Grain and texture:
Mahogany has several different appearances. We can thus find it dappled, ribboned, radiated, wavy, moiré or curly. The name of the finish very often bears the texture with which it is associated.
