It is true that the use and wearing of a wooden watch is quite recent in the world of fashion accessories. It is therefore normal that the maintenance of a wooden watch is only a vague idea and that we do not know how to go about it. It is however very important in taking care.

We are therefore going to tell you how to take care and maintain your watch so that it benefits you as long as possible.

First of all, it is important to take good care of your watch.

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun

Despite the fact that the wood is treated in order to resist the incidents of everyday life as much as possible, it remains a natural and living material. Prolonged exposure to the sun and therefore to the effects of UV rays could discolor the wood of your watch.

So if you are planning on sunbathing or doing UV rays, remember to store your watch in a safe place.

  • Avoid temperature variations

Just as wood is exposed to fading from the sun's UV rays, it is also sensitive to sudden changes in temperature. Because wood is alive, it is very reactive to extreme cold. Strong exposure to negative temperature can cause cracks in the wood of your watch.

So remember to avoid wearing your watch during your skiing vacation or in places with a sudden temperature change.

  • Don't immerse it

All our watches are waterproof (3 ATM). However, it will only be able to withstand splashing. They must not be submerged in water or receive a strong splash of water. Our models are not designed for this. Strong exposure to water could cause the wood to deform or stop the mechanism.

To avoid this, we therefore advise you to avoid wearing your watch when you shower or do the dishes. Do not wear it when you want to go swimming in the pool or in the sea.

If this should unfortunately happen, we advise you to go as quickly as possible to take your watch to a watchmaker so that they can limit the damage as much as possible.

  • Do not wear it during extreme activities

It's a safe bet that during your sports sessions, sweat and perspiration are present. In the same way as tap water, exposing your wooden watch often to sweat can cause deformation of the wood, or even discoloration.

Because your watch, unlike you, is intended to be rather lazy, we therefore advise you to leave it quietly at home during your sessions or, at least in the locker room.

In addition, strong activity can cause damage, scratches, impacts on the glass, ... Just as much of an incident that we absolutely want to avoid to your wooden watch. Also note that wearing your watch while jogging can cause the hands and their movement to be out of order. And yes, the watch doesn't like to be shaken too much either.

Finally, to make sure your watch lives a long and peaceful life, we also recommend that you store it in its box when you are not wearing it. This is sure to avoid potential damage.

In addition, the box is just as beautiful as the watch!

And because taking care of it isn't enough, maintain it.

To maintain your wooden watch, all you need to do is use a soft, slightly damp cloth (you can also use a mild cleaning product too). Gently rub the wood of your watch.

Small tip : If you cannot reach narrow places such as the part between the dial and the strap attachments, we recommend that you use a cotton swab. This will make your job much easier.

This applies for routine and regular maintenance. However, keep in mind that over the years the wood of your watch will lose its shine. This one will become more mast than at the beginning. So that the wood keeps all its shine, we are going to share a little tip with you to repeat a few times a year in order to keep the shine of your watch.

Apply beeswax to the wood of your watch using a small soft cloth and / or cotton swab. Beeswax helps protect and nourish the wood against shocks, bad weather, extreme temperature changes and other incidents of everyday life. It also helps keep the shine of the wood.

Finally, assure yourself regularly that the batteries in your watch (for battery-powered movements) are working. Because a watch that goes too long without working can see its mechanism malfunction, this disrupt or even stop completely.
